Kolstrand's All Aluminum 14D30W Drum Style Anchor Winch is the perfect winch for the 30 to 38 Foot Vessel, if you want to store much more cable/rope onto the drum. The 14D30W Anchor Winch Drum will store a whopping 1,000 Feet of 1/2" Rope!
Kolstrand AKPAAW14D30W Drum measures 14" Diameter Flanges X 30" Between the Flanges with a 4-1/2" Diameter Barrel Core.
Winch comes Standard with Pre-plumbed Control Valve with Stainless Steel Tubing between the Hydraulic Motor and Control Valve.
Note: Due to the length of the Drum, and as the 'Fleet Angle' is greater with a wider drum, the operator may have to assist the spooling of the line onto the drum as it's being hauled, in order for the line to spool more evenly.
Note: The purpose of Kolstrand Drum-style Anchor Winch is to pay-out and haul-in anchor line, usually with a shot of anchor chain. The winch is equipped with a ratchet and dog that will lock the drum, and is usually used by the vessel operator when anchoring in calm sea conditions.
As the winch is designed to haul a given load, and if the customer intends to anchor in calm conditions, the locking dog arrangement is usually sufficient. We do recommend that if the vessel is to anchor in other than calm sea conditions, that the user take a bite of the anchor line and secure it to a bow cleat, removing the load from the winch drum.
